Sevilla defender Javi Navarro continued to defend his role in the incident that Real Mallorca midfielder Juan Arango hospitalized and having around 40 stitches.
Navarro collided with Arango in a game between the two sides just over a week ago, leaving the Venezuelan in convulsions on the ground.
Arrango was rushed to the hospital where he spent over 24 hours in the emergency ward.
The impact left Arango with a broken cheekbone and he will be out of action for a month.
Although television images failed to determine whether or not the clash was intentional, Mallorca appealed to the Spanish football federation (RFEF) disciplinary committee, who have decided to re-open the case even though Navarro was punished with a yellow card on the field.
Navarro, who left the game at half-time to visit Arango in hospital, revealed that he has tried to apologies, but that Arango has not responded.
"I called him and left a message on his mobile, but he hasn't replied," he said.
